So you would like me to supervise your PhD? That is a great compliment, and thank you for considering me. I supervise PhDs on the politics of communication infrastructures, internet governance, and digital sovereignty.
Currently, I have no funding available for hiring a PhD student. If I do, I will advertise the position at the vacancy site of the University of Amsterdam and on the website of the critical infrastructure lab.
If you bring your own funding, or if you have an interest in being an external (self-funded) PhD candidate, a good starting point is to join the critical infrastructure lab bi-weekly online reading group, so you get a bit of a sense of our working culture and the people that work in and are affiliated with the lab.
If I sent this link via email in response to your inquiry for a PhD position, it is not because I want to be rude, but simply because I receive a lot of requests of this kind.
Finally, I find that PhD candidates who have spent time working outside of academia enjoy the process more and generally have much greater ease managing their project as well as engaging with non-academic actors for data gathering. So if you just finished your MA or MSc, I would suggest you spend some time in industry, government, or civil society before diving deep into academia.
